|Albert E. Seibert, 72, of Ottawa died Sunday, October 20, 2013 at the Ottawa Pavilion.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 25, in the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa, with the Rev. Richard Mitchell, a nephew, officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery where full military rites will be accorded. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday morning at the funeral home.
Albert was born on November 20, 1940 in Louisville, KY to Oscar V. and Catherine (Hazlip) Seibert. He was a graduate of Seneca High School. Albert was career U. S. Army, retiring in 1980 after serving for 20 years. He was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War. He also served in Germany and Thailand He went on to serve in the Federal Civil Service, and retired in 2001. He was instrumental in the Army’s transformation from the draft to an all volunteer force in the 1970’s. He was a life-time member of the VFW.
Albert is survived by his daughter Lesley (John) Craig, of Gurnee, IL, 2 sons, Keith (Sue) Seibert, of Bloomington and Gregory Seibert, of Round Lake, IL, 4 grandchildren and 4 sisters, Nancy (Vernon) Warriner, of Wilmington, Jennifer Snell, of Dwight, Sally (Doug) Brockman, of Wisconsin and Judy (James) Emanuelson, of Marseilles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters, Joyce, Annie, Delores and Linda and 2 brothers, Charles “Bill” and Ronnie Seibert.
Pallbearers will be Keith and Greg Seibert., and nephews, Robert and Roy Meredith, Steve Grosso, and David Rohwer.
