Louis Derango, 94, of LaSalle, passed away Wednesday, July 03, 2013 at Heritage Healthcare Center in Peru.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Mueller-Pagani Funeral Home in LaSalle with Rev. Antonio Dittmer, pastor of LaSalle Catholic Parishes officiating. Full military rites will be conducted by the LaSalle-Oglesby Veteran’s Memorial Group. Private burial will be in St. Vincent’s Cemetery in LaSalle. Visitation will be 10:30-11:30 AM Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Derango was born August 2, 1918 in Dalzell to Alexander and Angeline (Maggio) Derango. He married Flora Mae O’Dille on August 5, 1947 in Spring Valley.

Mr. Derango was a member of Queen of the Holy Rosary Church in LaSalle. He had been employed at LOF in Ottawa, performing all manner of maintenance jobs. He was well known for walking the towpath of the I&M Canal with his dogs, an activity he greatly enjoyed.

Survivors include his five children, Sheila (John) Wilson of Ottawa, Shari DeMattia of LaSalle, Louis Alan (Jenny) Derango of Mendota, Sue (Paul) Ridenour of Ottawa and Jim (Joy) Derango of Grayslake; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; one brother, Tommy (Betty Lou) of California and one sister, Jessie of Chicago and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Flora Mae on August 9, 2004; one great-granddaughter and nine brothers and sisters.

Pallbearers will be Louis Alan Derango Jr., Tony Alan Derango, Tracy Beattie, Amy Herkert, Mike Herkert Jr. and Emily Fultz.
